  • Cal-Gran Aftergraze Fertiliser 25kg. This balanced multi-nutrient fertiliser contains 23.9% nitrogen, 10.8% sulphur and 4.4% calcium. Specially formulated to contain under 45% ammonium nitrate, this fertiliser is not classified as security sensitive ammonium nitrate (SSAN) and therefore doesn’t require an SSAN licence, making it popular with horticultural and dairy farmers.
  • Martins Natural Gypsum 20kg. This clay break improves water retention and penetration in heavy soils and clays. Gypsum is used to improve soil structure, increase aeration and aid root development. Ideal for aiding drainage, improving soggy soil, reducing soil compaction and enhancing soil structure in heavy clay soils. Natural Gypsum also contains essential nutrients for plant growth including sulphur and calcium.
  • No.17 Lawn Fertiliser 25kg. This well balanced granular fertiliser has been developed especially for lawns and can be used on new and established lawns. With additional trace elements, this high-quality specialist lawn fertiliser promotes fast, healthy lawn growth.
  • Soil Improving Sugar Cane Mulch 12-13kg.  This Australian Certified Organic Allowed Input sugar cane mulch can be used for a wide range of garden mulching purposes. Sugar cane mulch allows for good water penetration and provides a cool environment for roots while also helping with weed control.
  • Yates AgriBoost Standard Pellets 25kg. This natural slow-release fertiliser is comprised of pelletised composted poultry manure for easy spreading. Thanks to its pellet format this fertiliser can be spread efficiently, minimising the need for manual handling. These pellets help to increase the soil’s capacity to hold water and help to enhance its organic matter content.

  • How often should I fertilise my lawn?

It’s best practice to fertilise your lawn at least twice a year, once in early spring and again in autumn. You should apply a heavy layer of 50 grams per square metre in spring and autumn with lighter levels of around 10 grams per square metre during the summer.

  • Do I need a licence to use security sensitive ammonium nitrate (SSAN)?

Yes. If you need to purchase, store, transport or use security sensitive ammonium nitrate fertiliser then you will need to obtain permission. An SSAN is a fertiliser containing potentially hazardous levels of ammonium nitrate and can include calcium ammonium nitrate fertilisers and blended fertilisers which contain more than 45% ammonium nitrate.

If the fertiliser you’re using doesn’t contain high levels of ammonium nitrate you won’t need to obtain permission to purchase or use it.

  • How should fertiliser be stored?

Fertiliser products should be stored in a secure location away from pets or children to ensure no accidental contact is made with the fertiliser. Any SSAN fertilisers must be stored in appropriate lockable storage.

Bagged fertiliser should be stored in a dry, well-drained environment with pallets underneath to protect against water damage. Any unused fertiliser should be tightly sealed in lidded containers to prevent any moisture from impacting the product.

Correctly stored unused fertiliser should last between 5 to 10 years depending on the type used and whether it is mixed with any other chemicals such as pesticides.

  • What PPE should I use when working with fertiliser?

When manually handling fertiliser you should wear gardening gloves and protective eyewear. It’s also important to engage in safe moving and handling activities. Spreading fertiliser can be hard yakka, so it’s important to always use correct moving and handling methods, utilising wheelbarrows and other mechanical aids to move heavy loads of fertiliser and bending at the knees when lifting.

  • How do I place an order?

To place an order for fertiliser, click on “Request a Quote” and fill out your details including your suburb for delivery, the product name and quantity and your contact details, and we’ll get back to you within 24 hours with a detailed quote (Monday to Friday).

Alternatively, you can call us on 4959 4999 to arrange your order. Our expert team will gladly help you select the right fertiliser to suit your needs and can make recommendations on quantity and provide any other advice you may need.
